COACHING FOR WRITERS WHO PROCRASTINATE

Get clear. Get consistent. Get confident.

You want to feel confident and consistent in your writing practice.

You say writing is a priority, yet you don’t treat it as such. You want to stop the cycle of overwhelm, self-doubt and perfectionism that lead to doom scrolling and another day of not writing.

You want your writing practice to feel motivated without feeling anxious, you want to see progress over perfection. You want to write with the joy and pleasure you used to when you were little.

Hello

I’m Phi, writer, storyteller, teacher and healer turned coach for writers who procrastinate.

I help writers who don’t have time to write to get to the root of the procrastination so they can write with consistency and confidence.

My clients are writers of prose, poetry, songs, screenplays. They are folks who write for work or have a day job unrelated to writing.

They all want the same thing: to stop feeling overwhelmed, to stop the cycle of self-doubt and doom scrolling, the fear of what people will think.

They want to write with confidence. They want to write with consistency. They want to write with joy.

I HELP THEM GET WHAT THEY WANT.

Writing is the one thing you’ve always done. It’s who you are. It’s how you process life.

But even though writing means the world to you, something stops you from actually doing it.

You ask yourself: why aren’t I prioritizing writing even though it’s so important to me?

It’s not that you never write.

  • you plan stories in your head, you schedule writing time into your calendar. But something always stops you.

  • you do write a little then run out of steam

  • you’ve tried accountability groups, workshops, courses, but as soon as they’re over, you’re back to not writing.

  • you’re tired of the write > self-doubt > doomscroll cycle but you don’t know how to break it.

You’re not here because you don’t know how to write. You’re here because you’re not actually writing. Not consistently. What’s the difference? I’m so glad you asked!

Here it is:

There’s writing and then there’s your THOUGHTS ABOUT your writing.

Your thoughts about your writing, the ones that stop you writing or screech you to a halt or convince you to do the dishes instead, have lived inside you a long time like old neighbors. You don’t know when they moved in, you’ve never met face to face, but they throw loud parties each time you want to write that stop your creative flow.

I say this next part with love and I assure you I’ve been there:

If you can’t make time to write, you don’t need another writing workshop.

You don’t need another residency, writing group, or writing teacher. No shade on writing teachers- I am one myself.

What you need is a writing coach to help you understand WHY you’re not writing and HOW you can write again.

What’s the difference between a writing teacher and a writing coach?

I am a writer, a writing teacher AND a certified coach (hey, I’m a Capricorn, I commit).

As a writing teacher: I teach the craft of writing, the show v. tell, the meaningful dialogue, all that good stuff. As a writing coach: I help you get clear on the exact thoughts that stop you from writing. And I teach you tools to get these thoughts to quiet down so you can write.

As a coach, I’m not giving you writing prompts, I’m not holding you accountable. I’m helping you get to the root of the issue. And this way, your writing gets unstuck.

When you get to the root of your procrastination, your writing becomes confident and consistent.

For years, I struggled to write at all, avoiding and dreading it. I was afraid of how I might be perceived and was worried about my own ability to manage the feelings that came up. I was also highly critical of my writing and it often stopped me from writing or made writing feel hard.

After working with Phi, I feel much more in relationship with my writing practice and have been writing regularly for the first time in years. I understand my own process more, and can catch when I am letting my critical side in a little too early. I see the power of my voice and the value of sharing it with others.

Working with Phi has transformed not just my writing, it’s transformed me as a person.
